Imperium Resumes Biodiesel Production At Grays Harbor Facility

Imperium Renewables, a producer of biodiesel, has restarted production at its Grays Harbor facility. The plant, which had paused production after a glycerin tank ruptured in December last year, is producing biodiesel from regionally-grown canola to meet demand from British Columbia and Oregon.

SAIC Bags $21m Contract For Biomass Engineering

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), through its wholly-owned subsidiary RW Beck, has bagged a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Golden Field Office to support the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's biomass program. The BPA's period of performance expires on September 30, 2015 and has a ceiling value of $21m.

Golden State Biofuel has selected the City of Indio in Riverside County for its first biofuel refinery in California. The Southern California location will serve Los Angeles, the High Desert and Inland Empire, Orange County and San Diego.

UOP Bags Funding To Demonstrate CCS Technology

UOP, a Honeywell company, has bagged a $1.5m funding from the US Department of Energy for a project to demonstrate technology to capture carbon dioxide and produce algae for use in biofuel and energy production. The project will be managed by the US Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory.

S4 Energy To Develop Plasma Gasification Facility In Oregon

S4 Energy, a joint venture of Waste Management, and InEnTec, has said that it plans to develop a plasma gasification facility at Waste Management's Columbia Ridge Landfill in Arlington, Oregon. The planned facility will convert municipal solid waste into clean fuels and renewable energy.
